Galeri Ibnu Khaldun is inspired by the Architecture of the different ethnics in Sarawak, namely, Chinese, Melanau, Bidayuh and Iban. For its layout planning, the design puts more emphasis on the characteristics of the typical Malay Architecture. The ‘serambi’ is placed living on the frontmost to welcome guests followed by the ‘Rumah Ibu’ as the main living space for family gatherings and celebrations. ‘Rumah Dapur’ is the kitchen where the food and the feasts are prepared. The Galeri Ibnu Khaldun also adapts the Malay characteristics of modular planning as it continues to accommodate changes and growth in relation to their current and future needs.
