Niah Caves and the area was a major centre of human settlement as early as 40 000 years ago and the site of some of the oldest human remains discovered in Southeast Asia. The Park has the world’s largest cave entrances, Palaeolithic and Neolithic burial sites and iron age cave paintings. The National Park area is covered in dense primary rainforest and is home to many species of plants and wildlife. It offers Jungle Walk, bird Watching and wildlife observation, caving (Including Archaeological sites), research and nature education, Iban longhouse homestays.The Proposal will provide upgrades and ease of transportation and movement to reach the caves for researchers and visitors of all ages alike.
